London SAN Upgrade of Operating System and Disk Firmware Monday 24th January 2022

As part of our commitment to quality and continual improvement, we will be:
Upgrading the EMC SAN Operating Environment (OE) to the latest version.  In addition, the Disk firmware on the array will also be upgraded

What will happen?
Each service processor and associated disks of the SAN will be upgraded one at a time by downloading the software to the SAN and invoking the upgrade service task. The total estimated time for an upgrade is around 3 hours

When will the work be carried out?
The maintenance work will begin at 11pm (GMT) on Monday 24th January 2022 and is expected to last for 3 hours until 2am on Tuesday 25th January 2022

Who will be completing the work?
All of the work will be completed by our experienced iomart infrastructure team

Will I experience downtime?
No downtime is expected but as with any upgrade or maintenance work there are risks present.  To mitigate these risks the Dell SAN system is an active/active system and the partner service processor will take over the tasks of the upgraded service processor during the reboot that is required once the firmware has been applied. All storage paths to each storage processor are also served via redundant storage fabrics.  Iomart have also established the readiness for the upgrades and will perform a health check before commencing. In the unlikely event of a firmware upgrade failure the firmware will not be installed and the system will remain as is.

London Core ASR Upgrade Friday 28th January 2022 – Sunday 30th January 2022

As part of our commitment to quality and continual improvement, we will be carrying out hardware and software upgrades on our core routers in Telehouse North and Equinix LD5 to enable 100G capability on these devices.

What will happen?

Our network engineering team will be replacing some of the line cards and upgrading the firmware on our core network routers in Telehouse North and Equinix LD5. During this time, traffic will be routed away from the device in question via alternative paths.

When will the work be carried out?

We have scheduled 2 maintenance windows for this work.

The first window will begin at 23:00 (GMT) on Friday 28th January 2022 and is expected to last until 06:00 (GMT) on Saturday 29th January 2022. The second window will begin at 23:00 (GMT) on Saturday 29th January 2022 and is expected to last until 06:00 (GMT) on Sunday 30th January 2022.

Due to the nature of the work being undertaken these windows may need to be extended slightly, but any extension will be kept to the minimum required.

Who will be completing the work?

All the work will be completed by our experienced iomart network and infrastructure team.

Will I experience downtime?

As with any upgrade or maintenance work, there is an increased risk to services. Customers may experience a brief period of service disruption as traffic fails to an alternative path around the network. All customers should consider their services to be “at risk” for the entire duration of the maintenance windows
